Cycle Chic Rolls Through Rio de Janeiro

Mikael Colville-Andersen’s Copenhagen Cycle Chic has long been a favorite blog of mine. Its superb photography and short, smart commentary captures what struck me most when I visited Denmark a few years ago: the capital city’s unrivaled “style over speed” bike culture. Over the years, Mikael has expanded the Cycle Chic franchise to other cities around the world (London, Sevilla, Malmö, Dublin and Thessaloniki, to name a few). Most recently, he was in Brazil for the launch of Rio de Janiero Cycle Chic, and he shot the video above (set to the Violent Femmes “Children of the Revolution”) during a 12-hour celebratory ride through the city.

Check it out for a good look at what it’s like to roll through Rio, including the famous beaches of LeBlon, Ipanema and Copacabana.

Great photos of the bike, surf and skateboard culture of Rio on Copenhagen Cycle Chic here and here.
