Garrett McNamara Takes on 90-Foot Wave off Nazare, Portugal

While in Nazare, Portugal, working with the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute to study how the waves in the deep-water canyon off Nazare reach such unusual heights, Hawaiian big-wave surfer Garrett McNamara reportedly took on one of those unusual waves, a 90-foot monster.

The Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed is currently held by Mike Parsons for riding a 77-foot wave near Cortes Bank off the coast of Southern California. Whether this one will be entered as a new record… well, just watch the video and decide for yourself.
