Scheduled to open in downtown LA later this summer, the Hub LA is a workspace and networking center catering to social innovators. The concept for Hub LA, which is a part of the international Hub consortium, borrows from the best of a social club, an innovation agency, a serviced office and an incubator.
Looking to kick start its sales efforts, the Hub LA turned to Wicked+ to design and develop a new online home for them in advance of its opening. The goal was to have the site feel like what being in the space feels like; a challenge considering the space had yet to be built out. During our discovery phase with the client, we learned that they wanted the space to feel smart, accessible and peaceful yet active, with a decor that mixed warm oak farm tables with a touch of post-industrial grit would. Our site design reflected this with a super clean look that capitalized on imagery of their ideal workspace along with plenty of white space and absolute no sense of clutter to put the emphasis on content.
In addition to detailing the Hub LA offerings, from membership to event space rental, the client wanted the site to lay the foundation for a community, where content from the LA social enterprise could be curated and presented and success stories be shared. To achieve this, we included a blog, with featured articles appearing on the home page, along with a Community page and Resources page, the latter of which allows users to pose questions and respond with each topic being archived as a keyword rich, single page that is indexed in search engines.
Finally, we included an easy-to-manage Events page featuring an interactive calendar plug-in that integrates iCal and Google Maps and offers both grid and list views.
Keep posted of all Hub LA news as they get ready to launch late this summer by following them on Twitter (@TheHubLA) and Facebook (facebook.com/thehubla).
